Last nights ceremony for the British Bank Awards 2020 was nothing shy of glitz and glamour. Held at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London, hundreds were in attendance from many companies within the banking and fintech sectors.

Over 40,000 votes came in from banking consumers, a 48% increase from the 27,000 votes in 2019, the British Bank Awards, widely described as ‘The Oscars of the banking world’ is run by the UK’s Number 1 financial services review site, Smart Money People.
2020 category winners included; Starling, Revolut, Natwest, Virgin Money, Clear Bank and Zopa.
Digital Banks took home more awards last night compared to the high street giants. According to Smart Money People 46% of consumers prefer to use app-based banking to manage their finances, up from 39% in 2019. App and online banking is now preferred by 79% of the UK population.
